The AOMC offers access to high-end fluorescence microscopy equipment and methods as well as advice, support, expertise and training.
Our goal is to provide support for all research steps from experimental design over sample preparation and image acquisition to image analysis and data visualization.
We welcome collaborations from academia and industry and are open for multiple forms of collaboration.
Flanders BioImaging (FBI) is an interuniversity consortium dedicated to biomedical imaging and advanced light microscopy in Flanders. It is set up to integrate, optimize, rationalize and coordinate available imaging infrastructure in Flanders, facilitating access to external (international) users.
Flanders Bioimaging can greatly facilitate international access to the AOMC infrastructure. Do not hesitate to apply through FBI !
Gain independent access to all facility equipment and perform your own experiments.
The AOMC allows independent use of it's equipment. New users are introduced to the microscope best suited for their experiments and trained to independently use the setup. Once training has been completed, users are free to plan and execute experiments. The AOMC will continue to offer advice and support.
Usage charges will be calculated based on the equipment's booked hours.
Make use of the expertise available in the AOMC and the Biomedical Research Institute to acquire the data you need.
The AOMC can provide a full service (in collaboration with the BIOMED service unit) for different types of experiments. Full service can include sample preparation, image acquisition, image analysis and data visualization.
The AOMC can assist in experimental design and protocol optimization.
The service unit of the Biomedical Research Institute can support a wide range of experiments. Please visit this page for more information.
Charges will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.
The AOMC is open for scientific collaborations and can provide assistance in the development of new tools, procedures, methods, ...
The microscopes of the AOMC are very sensitive and expensive equipment. They should be handled with care at all times. Improper or careless use of the microscopes results in irreliable data and could put the systems out of use for an extended period of time, causing problems for your research as well as the projects of other users. Therefore all users are expected to read, understand and comply to the following rules:
In order to ensure continued support by the Advanced Optical Microscopy Centre, it is essential to acknowledge its role in the acquisition and/or analysis of microscopy data for publications and grant applications. Below you can find a template that can be used in all your publications.
We acknowledge the Advanced Optical Microscopy Centre at Hasselt University for support with the microscopy experiments.
